D-Lish Scraps Challenge 1

After lacking motivation for weeks, I finally found some and have joined in with the D-Lish Scraps 5th Birthday Cybercrop.  Better late than never I guess :)

This was for Challenge 1 by Tarrah - A Scraplift.

I've used Tarrah's page as a sketch and kept to the original LO pretty exact.

"EVERYDAY"

I've used one of my favourite collections "He Said" by Teresa Collins - an oldie but a goodie !!  Plenty of Dazzlerz, Texturez, gesso, gelatos, mist and stamps on the background.   I love this photo of the boys, taken a few years ago now.

And some close ups

Thanks for stopping by.

If you would like to keep up to date with my scrapping, I'd love you to visit my Facebook page

Once Upon A Sketch June challenge

Back again with a quick share for the Once Upon A Sketch June challenge.

Nothing went right on this LO !!  But that's how it goes sometimes.

Here is the sketch

The theme to journal was "the best things in life aren't things"

This LO is about our time at the beach this summer.  Spent quite a bit of time there as it was so hot.  And yes,

"THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE"

Thanks for stopping by.

A BIG Scrap the Boys challenge

Hi everyone.  This is my last month on the DT over at Scrap the Boys.  I've had a great time on the team but all good things must come to an end.

The challenge this month was to use a BIG photo on your LO.  Here I've used a 5"x7" - something I very rarely do.

"TIME FLIES"

I've stamped and gessoed the background, as well as using shimmerz texturz paste.  Lots of masking as well, and of course gelatos and mists.  Photo is my youngest son, who is now in grade 2 and almost 8 years old.  Where does the time go.

Some close ups

I've used texturez paste on the chipboard and used my heat gun to create the bubble efffect.

Lots of doodling, and Flutterby Designs goodness.

Another close up of the shimmerz texturez on my chipboard, again using the heat gun to create the bubble effect

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by.

Don't forget to join in the fun at Scrap the Boys this month.  You still have time to submit your work for the DT call too :)

Happy scrapping

More Flutterby designing....

I'm back with another couple of shares for Flutterby Designs.

Have kept this LO very simple, with the focus being mainly on the photo.  Creating my background using ripped washi, with stamping and gelatos.

Close up of the wooden title.  I've sprayed this with Dylusions ink.

Love the flairs, and the photo cut outs are fab too !!

Another close up of the flairs and tabs cut outs.

I've also created a PL spread.  I had planned on being very organised this year but unfortunately this is the first spread I've managed !!  I've decided to do monthly instead of weekly.  These pages capture the great night we had at my BFF's 40th earlier this year.

Love, love the mixed media cards.  I've tried to use everything Flutterby on these pages, and almost managed to do it :)

I've used wooden titles, wooden bits, mixed media cards, photo tabs, photo cut outs, wooden frames, 3x4 photo cut outs.  you name it, it's on here !!

Close up page 1

Close up page 2

Thanks so much to Anita for having me as GDT this month.  I had a blast creating with all the awesomeness.  If you haven't done so yet, make sure you pop on by Flutterby Designs.  you won't be disappointed.

Until next time,
Happy Scrapping

Flutterby Design - GDT !!!

I can't tell you how excited I was when Anita asked me to be GDT over at Flutterby Designs this month.  I love, love, love all of her products and use them on EVERY LO I create.  Gorgeous flairs, wooden veneers, titles, mixed media cards - you name it and Anita has it !!

I really love how my first LO turned out.  The colors in the mixed media cards worked perfectly with the colors in the photo.  Who says you have to use these cards in pocket scrapping??

I've gessoed the background and then sprayed Heidi Swapp Color Shine.  Layers have then been created using stamps and stencils, with lots of gelatos.

Here are some close ups of the awesome goodness from Flutterby Designs

I didn't think the wooden title needed anything done to it.  Love how it stands out against the photo and makes a statement on this page.  The gorgeous mixed media flair is a must have !!

Flair buttons and wood pieces are a fab finishing touch on every LO.

How fabulous are the mixed media cards?  I will definately be adding them to my stash !!  And I love how easy it is to create layers and dimension just by adding a couple of photo cut outs

Do yourself a favour and visit Anita over at Flutterby Designs.  You won't be disappointed.

I'll be back with more to share during the month.

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to like my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/karensscrapping

Love a good mess !!

Where did that month go??  I haven't been here for 3 weeks !!!  Life is crazy busy right now, but who's isn't??  Anyway, I have managed to scrap a couple of LOs lately.  The first one is for the May challenge over at Scrap the Boys.  Right up my alley was this challenge :)

CHALLENGE - GRUNGY/MESSY

I love grunge !!  The messier, the better.  I've used mists, masking, texture paste, washi, stencils, stamps and rub ons to create the background.

Here's a couple of close ups

Layer upon layer :)  Love a good mess !!

And here's a few close ups of my LO.  I've used lots of Flutterby Designs on here (my must have, go to products !!).  I've used shimmerz texture paste on the chipboard star and using my heat gun to create the bubble effect

Lots more Flutterby and grungy mess.

Finished off with a Charms Creation felt arrow :)

Thanks for visiting today.  I will have more to share soon.  Until then

Another LO to share...

Hope everyone is well.  I have another quick share with you today.  Before I do, I'd like to know if anyone still thinks blogging is worthwhile?  Does anyone actually visit here and read this??  With so many other social media outlets, is blogging necessary??  Would really love to know if anyone does stop by and read my blog, so if you do, please leave a comment so I know I'm not just talking to myself

Anyway, here's my next DT creation for Scrapbook Savvy - the April sketch.

You can see the sketch HERE

And my example

I've used lots of Flutterby Design products as well as stamps, gesso, gelatos and shimmerz texturz pastes

Some close ups.  Love the mixed media flair button on this

Nifty wood embellishments.  Love them.

There you have it.  Another "pink" LO from me.  Never use pink, but it seems to be my "go to" color of late.

Hope to scrap again tomorrow.  Perfect weather with the rain outside :)

Happy scrapping

Scrap the Boys - "Kiss Kiss"

A new month, and new challenges.  Last month just didn't work for me scrappy wise !!  Nothing done, but that happens.  Fingers crossed this is a better month.

If anyone is interested, I have created a new Facebook page that is just for my scrapping work.  I decided to seperate my hobby from my real life and just keep what I do in life to my "real life" friends.  All my scrappy peeps are more than welcome to visit my new page, and I hope you do :

https://www.facebook.com/karensscrapping

The first LO is for the current Scrap the Boys challenge.  It was rather challenging for me, I must say !!

Criteria is to use FLOWERS on a boy LO.

Make sure you head on over to the blog to see all the awesomeness of the other CT girls.

"KISS KISS"

Tried to stick to my "grungy" style with this one.  It took me forever to do, but I'm quite happy with the end result.  Plenty of mists, texture pastes, gelatos, water, stamps and color.  Must say, I had to dig around my stash to find flowers !!!

Here are a few close ups

Here's hoping you can join in this month and win some fabulous prizes.

My second LO is for the current Scrapbook Savvy CC sketch challenge.

"#this is awesome"

Again, another grungy and messy LO.  I love, love, love all the Flutterby Designs goodness that is on this LO.  Wood veneer circles (my new fave), wood title, flairs and photo cut outs.  Here I have also used gesso, mists, gelatos and stamps to create the background.

And some close ups

Would love it if you could join in HERE. plenty of Savvy $$$ to be won.  You have until Thursday April 3rd (midnight) to get your entries in.

Have a great week everyone.  Hope to be back soon, and hope you can visit my FB page.

Happy scrapping

The Scrap the Boys challenge for March is an easy one - criteria is to

USE THE COLORS BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW

Easy right??  Would love to see you enter.

Here's my DT example, it was inspired by the Pop & Colors 2 workshop.  So many talented artists showcasing so many great styles of work.

"SURF'S UP"

Lots of gelatos, water, mists and shimmerz have been used on this LO.

Close ups

Hope to see plenty of gorgeous entries this month.

Happy scrapping everyone

Sketchabilities # 108

Hi everyone.  Hope you're having a great day.  Love having the kids back as school, as in between housework I'm actually getting some challenges done !!  This one is for the Sketchabilities # 108 challenge.  Unfortunately I missed the cut off by about 5 minutes :(

Here's the sketch

And here's my LO.  It was a great sketch to work with.

I've tried to stay true to my scrap style with this LO.  With so many tutorials on mixed media, I was getting a little overwhelmed with it all (and what I was doing wasn't "right").  However, I really like how this one turned out  :)

Lots of gelatos, mists, stamping and gesso, and lots of color :)

Here's a few close up pics of the background

Thanks for stopping by.

Will be back again soon with more to share :)
